Product Designer

Help us build the best design team in Canada and make event software more human. We’re looking to expand our product design team with a talented team player who is results-driven and can drive their design visions to life in a way that feels thoughtful, crafted and even magical.

As a Product Designer, you’ll have the autonomy to lead your own projects, be part of cross-sectional teams, test your products with real people and be part of growing our design culture & process. You’ll also expand as well as contribute your design knowledge by working alongside a group of highly skilled people at Universe where you’ll be inspired to advance your growth. You’ll learn how to build quality experiences under real-world conditions and will participate in all aspects of the design process. What your day could look like:

  • Conducting user research and stakeholder interviews as well as gathering insights in order to better understand the problem and needs of the people who will be using your products
  • Developing user stories, personas, user flows, design mockups, prototypes, specs and production assets
  • Effectively communicating and selling your designs, giving and receiving feedback in order to move designs decisions forward
  • Applying design principles & theory to design systems and driving a high level of visual design across products to improve usability and the experience
  • Conducting design QA to ensure the highest quality of implementation and measuring your outcomes

 

What we're looking for:  

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of product experience and a portfolio that demonstrates your craftsmanship and product design process that includes: design thinking, user research, information architecture, prototyping, visual design and interaction design skills
  • A passion for the event space and Universe products
  • Proficiency with Sketch, Invision, Adobe Suite, Zeplin etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Provide and seek feedback from other designers to always push the bar for quality
  • A self-starter that is eager to lead your own projects and take initiative
  • A love for learning and not afraid to fail

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in a startup or on a marketplace
  • Experience with motion design
  • Experience designing for accessibility
